Mitsubishi has released a teaser for a version of
the Triton pickup. It will be called the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete and will be
unveiled at the upcoming Thai Motor Expo, which kicks off on November 30, 2017.
The teaser video does not reveal much apart from the
silhouette of the pickup truck and LED DRL glow. Mitsubishi has also created a
microsite in anticipation of the Triton Athlete’s launch on November 30
inviting interested customers to register their interest in the product.
The Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is expected to feature
cosmetic enhancements in the form of decals, black grille, black 17-inch alloys
among other updates. The headlamps could get HID projector units. These
cosmetic upgrades could be similar to the Triton Limited Edition.
The cabin is expected to get features like a
touch-screen DVD player Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity and voice command
support. There wil be features like multi-function steering wheel, paddle
shifter, leather steering wheel, dual zone air conditioning, push button start
on offer.
Power will come from the existing set of engines.
Mitsubishi offers the Triton with a 2.4-litre diesel engine that develops 181
PS and 430 Nm of torque, a 2.5-litre diesel engine that produces 178 PS and 400
Nm of torque and a 2.4-litre petrol engine that delivers 128 PS and 194 Nm of
torque.
