National research and development centre for
information and communication technology MIMOS has revealed a sketch for the
Proton Savvy 18 concept. What you see here is the work of Saharudin Busri (his
other creations are posted below), the lead designer of the first-generation
Savvy when it was being developed 15 years ago.
An owner of the original himself, Saharudin’s
concept retains the design identity of the hatchback, albeit with a sportier
look to attract the younger generation.
The front fascia features a larger lower intake,
flanked by the main headlamps in the side intakes. Those slim LED daytime
running lights remind us of Citroen models, and they meet up with the bonnet
line and chrome trim that leads towards the logo. Said bonnet also gets some
“power bulges” to make it even more aggressive-looking.
Highlights along the concept’s sides include a
defining shoulder line and rising beltline. The latter is a subtle homage to
the original Savvy, and features chrome trim that wraps around the front
windscreen and lower section of the rear windscreen as well. Joining this
arrangement is a black-painted roof as well as B- and C-pillars for a “floating”
look.
At the near-flat rear, there are two-piece,
3D-design taillights that are said to be inspired by sports cars (Ferrari
GTC4Lusso, perhaps?). Other cues include the roof-mounted spoiler and another
tribute to the original Savvy – the central exhaust.
