The Suzuki Intruder 150 has been spotted for the
first time. The bike is draped in a silver paint finish. The Suzuki Intruder
150 will be launched on November 7th in the country. Suzuki has borrowed design
elements from the Suzuki Intruder M1800R for this motorcycle.
The design of the
inverted triangular headlight flows well with the fuel tank extensions. The
headlight is an LED projector unit. The engine cowl adds visual mass at the
bottom. The motorcycle comes with a laid-back riding position with forwarding
set footpegs, and a wide handlebar. The tail section is curvy, with an LED tail
light. The indicators are of bulb type clear lens units. The two-piece seat
comes with a single curved grab handle for the pillion. The twin exhausts get
chrome end caps.
The brochure scans leaked out recently, revealing
the specifications of the upcoming motorcycle. Powering the Suzuki Intruder 150
is a 154.9 cc single cylinder SOHC engine with air cooling. It makes 14.8 PS of
power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The carburetted engine
mates with a 5-speed transmission. It is the same engine that does duty in the
Gixxer SF.
Coming to the cycle parts, it gets a telescopic
front fork and a rear monoshock. The motorcycle rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels
that are shod with a 100-section tubeless tyre at the front and 140-section at
the rear. For anchorage, the bike uses disc brakes on both ends, with ABS. The
ABS system is likely to be a single-channel unit.
The Japanese brand is likely to price the bike at a
premium of INR 10,000 – 12,000 over the Suzuki Gixxer SF ABS. The Gixxer SF ABS
costs 95,499, ex-showroom, Delhi. The only rival for the bike in the segment is
the Bajaj Avenger 150.
