BMW Motorrad will be launching
the BMW F 750 GS and the BMW F 850 GS in February, next year at the 2018 India
Auto Expo. The two motorcycles will enter the Indian shores via CBU route, and the
website reports that the price difference between the two motorcycles would be
around INR 1.5 lakh.
The two motorcycles would lock horns with the
Triumph Tiger 800 range which will be updated next year. BMW has built the two
bikes on steel bridge frame in monocoque construction for increased riding
precision. The design of the two motorcycles is also new and more muscular. BMW
has placed the fuel tank in a traditional layout, between the seat bench and
the steering head, for optimised packaging and an improved centre of gravity.
The two motorcycles made their global debut at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan,
Italy.
Both BMW F 750 GS & BMW F 850 GS get 853 cc
in-line twin cylinder engines with a 270-degree firing order and two
counterbalancer shafts. The engines pair with a 6-speed transmission with an
anti-hopping clutch. The motorcycle also features ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding
modes, while the combination of BMW Motorrad ABS and the ASC (Automatic
Stability Control) ensures a high level of safety. Brakes on both motorcycles
include 305 mm dual discs at the front and a single rear 365 mm disc, both with
ABS that can be disengaged.
The engine in the BMW F 750 GS produces 77 PS of
power at 7,500 rpm, and 83 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. In the BMW F 800 GS, it
makes 95 PS at 8,250 rpm, and 92 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The former gets 41 mm
telescopic fork, while the latter features 43 mm upside-down fork. Both the
bikes come with an adjustable rear monoshock. Highlights of the optional
equipment for the two motorcycles include Keyless Ride, Gear shift assistant
Pro, Dynamic ESA, eCall, and Connectivity.
