The Mahindra XUV500 will receive its second facelift
next year. IAB reader Abson Varghese recently spotted a 2018 Mahindra XUV500
test mule parked on the side of a road. The Mahindra XUV500 will receive some
minor revisions to its front fascia with the facelift next year. The spy shot
reveals the 2018 Mahindra XUV500’s new radiator grille and suggests that the
headlamps and fog lamps’ look may not change at all. A previous spy shot has
indicated that the tail lamps would remain unchanged, but the rear fascia still
may get a new look, with a redesigned license plate housing.
The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 may not have major changes
on the inside. A spy shot last month showed the new XUV500 having the
instrument console backlight, centre console and steering wheel same as the
current model. Mahindra may upgrade the infotainment system to support Apple
CarPlay.
Mahindra recently introduced a petrol engine for the
Mahindra XUV500. With the second facelift, the company will upgrade the SUV’s
2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine to produce 170 hp and around 400 Nm of torque.
6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic will continue as the transmission choices.
Mahindra will launch the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 in early 2018. The company could
use the Auto Expo 2018 scheduled to take place from 7-14 February, 2018 to
introduce the new model.
