The Mahindra XUV500 will receive its second facelift
early next year. The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 will get an updated exterior along
with an increased power and torque output. IAB’s automotive illustrator has
rendered the front section of the SUV based on a recent spy shot.
The rendering sports a new grille quite different
from the ‘toothed’ ones seen on newer Mahindra products. The grille and air
intake area has been blacked out. While the fog lamp enclosure is similar to
the current model, slight updates have been made in the form of sharper
creases. The headlamp assembly is new as well featuring L-shape LED DRLs.
Previous spy shots of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 also
reveal new 10-spoke alloy wheels. Other changes, if any, have been kept hidden
by the camouflage worn by test mules. Aside from cosmetic updates, the updated
Mahindra XUV500 will come with increased power and torque output. Reports
indicate that the 2.2 l mHawk diesel engine will be retuned to produce 170 hp
and close to 400 Nm of torque.
The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 could make its debut at the
Auto Expo debut in February. The event is scheduled to kick off on Feb 7, 2018
for the media.
