With 248 hp and 320 Nm of torque available on tap,
the Alpine A110 is not exactly slow to begin with. However, it appears that the
Renault-owned brand is looking to launch a more hardcore version, according to
AutoExpress, that could get as much as 300 hp from its tuned 1.8-liter
turbocharged engine.
Besides the extra oomph, such a version of the A110,
which is allegedly known internally as 'Sport Chassis', would also shed a few
kilograms from its weight, dropping from the current 1,080 kg to 1,050 kg thanks
to a few changes in the interior.
Its chassis will be tuned as well, while the
suspension is expected to be 15 to 20 percent stiffer. Moreover, the so-called
Alpine A110 Sport is also believed to become more thrilling in Track mode, as
the steering, dual-clutch transmission, traction control, and exhaust note will
be revised.
If everything goes as planned, then the extreme
version of the French coupe should arrive next summer, and it might pave the
road for a 'Trophy' variant of the new Renault Megane RS.
