When
we picture a Bentley in our minds, we're usually imaging it in a dark green,
maybe a deep red, or a nice shade of blue.
DayGlo
yellow wouldn't rank high up there on our list, but we'd imagine there have
been a fair few Continental GTs ordered up in such garish shades.
Yet
that's what we're looking at here: a Mulsanne Speed, photographed in Munich.
What's more is that this is the model's signature shade, which Bentley calls
"Julep." It's the default on the online configurator, featured on
display models, and photographed in studios and on show stands. Those are
locations where it's supposed to stand out, we suppose, but it's quite another
thing to see one out in the wild.
The
color contrasts on this particular example with the dark chrome and especially
the blacked-out wheels, and even continues inside where the black leather is
highlighted in that same shade of bright yellow. It certainly catches the eye,
but does it belong on a Bentley – particularly one as (otherwise) dignified as
a Mulsanne? We're not so sure, but then we're not the ones ponying up the US$ 335k
to put one in our driveway.
