A week after releasing a teaser for the bike via its
official website, India Kawasaki Motors has launched the Kawasaki Vulcan S in
the country at an ex-showroom price of INR 5.44 lakhs. The bike is Kawasaki’s
first cruiser in the Indian market.
The Kawasaki Vulcan S is also the brand’s most
affordable cruiser in the country. The launch was a low-profile event, and
Kawasaki will unveil the bike at the 2018 Auto Expo. However, bookings are open
and customers can visit the nearest Kawasaki dealer to order the motorcycle.
The bike is available only in Flat Ebony colour. Kawasaki assembles the Vulcan
S at its Chakan plant in Pune. The cruiser also comes with accessories which
will be sold separately as per stock availability.
With the low seat height of 705 mm, tractable
parallel twin engine, and adjustable brake and clutch levers, the motorcycle is
rookie rider-friendly. The Kawasaki Vulcan S also gets an ergo fitment
feature which includes adjustable foot pegs, handle and seat. Powering the
Vulcan S is a 649 cc parallel twin DOHC mill with liquid cooling and fuel
injection. The engine does duty in the Kawasaki Ninja 650 as well. In the
Vulcan, it generates 61 PS at 7,500 rpm and 63 Nm at 6,600 rpm.
The cruiser employs 41 mm telescopic front fork, and
an offset monoshock with linkage and adjustable preload. Brakes include 300 mm
front and 250 mm rear disc with dual channel ABS as standard. The Kawasaki
Vulcan S goes head-to-head with the Harley-Davidson Street 750.
