Bajaj Auto has unveiled the 2018 Bajaj V15 at the
launch event of the new 2018 Discover range. The bike now comes with pillion
backrest with cushion.
The USP of Bajaj V is the use of metal from INS
Vikrant, which was independent India’s first aircraft carrier. The design of
the motorcycle is also different from the run-of-the-mill commuters, which
makes the bike stand apart. The motorcycle comes with a 55/60 W DC headlamp
with AHO feature. The instrument cluster houses an analogue speedometer on the
left and tell-tale lights on the right. The pillion back rest bears a ‘V’ logo
at the back, and the logo is present on the fuel tank as well. The tail lamp is
LED.
Powering the 2018 Bajaj V15 is a 149.5 cc SOHC mill.
The powerplant pushes out 12 PS of power at 7,500 rpm, and 12.7 Nm of torque at
5,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a 5-speed gearbox. Cycle parts include
telescopic front fork, and twin rear Nitrox shock absorbers. In the braking
department, the bike employs 240 mm front disc, and a 130 mm rear drum.
The fuel tank is a 13-litre unit, and the bike tips
the scales at 137 kg, kerb. The 2018 Bajaj V15 costs INR 64,179, ex-showroom,
Delhi. Primary competitors include the Honda CB Unicorn, Hero Achiever 150, and
Hero Xtreme Sports. The bike is available in three colours- Black, Blue, and
Red.
