Fiat Chrysler Automobiles unveiled the 2019 Ram 1500
at the North American International Auto Show and the company is already
expanding the lineup by introducing the Laramie Longhorn Edition.
Billed as a “no compromise luxury pickup,” the
Laramie Longhorn is distinguished by a unique grille which is flanked by
standard LED headlights. The truck also features a two-tone paint job and 20-
or 22-inch alloy wheels.
The exterior styling doesn’t necessarily scream
luxury but that theme is unmistakable in the cabin. Once drivers open the
doors, they will find premium leather upholstery which covers virtually every
surface including the seats, center console, and dashboard. A closer inspection
reveals authentic barn-wood trim, satin chrome accents, and contrasting seat
piping. The model also comes equipped with a brushed-nickel badge on the center
console and “Longhorn” branding which has been burned into the wood-trimmed
upper glove box door.
Other notable features include ambient lighting,
wood tandem doors on the center console, and class-exclusive heated and
ventilated rear seats. Rounding out the highlights are a 4G WiFi hotspot and a
Uconnect infotainment system with a 12-inch display.
Ram didn’t go into specifics but the standard model
can be equipped with either a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine developing 305 Hp and 364 Nm of torque or a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that produces
395 Hp and 555 Nm of torque. Both engines are connected to
an eight-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional
four-wheel drive system.
