Alfa Romeo has reportedly given the production green
light to an all-new sports car dubbed the 6C. Tuning company Pogea Racing,
which has decades of experience working with Alfa Romeos, claims to have
received word from a trustworthy source that a new Alfa sports car is in the
pipeline. It’s believed that it will launch in early 2020 following a public
reveal later this year or during 2019.
Pogea claims that the source is “very deep into the
decisions of the management of Alfa Romeo”. We’ve reached out to the Italian
carmaker for a comment and will give you an update once we hear back from them.
At this stage, details about the 6C are very
limited. However, it is safe to assume that it will be much larger than the
lightweight 4C and potentially use the same platform as the Giulia. It seems
possible that the vehicle could be similar in size to the Jaguar F-Type and
that a 6C Quadrifoglio would very well be the latest Alfa Romeo model to use a
twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine delivering a touch over 500 hp.
This isn’t the first time reports have surfaced
about a potential Alfa Romeo 6C. In fact, we first reported on the possibility
of an Italian F-Type rival back in August 2014. At the time, it was suggested
the car would arrive in 2017 but that never happened.
