Released by Ford Thailand, the short clip shows the
‘mini F-150 Raptor‘ on an off-road course, with a few interesting captions such
as “ready for sand”, “ready for mud”, and “ready for hills”, among others,
which probably refer to some special driving modes.
The fact that it was posted by the brand’s Thai arm
backs up a previous report saying that the new Ford Ranger Raptor will be
unveiled in Bangkok, on February 7, prior to its initial launch in the Asia
Pacific region and before becoming available in other markets, including the
United States.
Underpinned by Ford’s T6 ladder chassis, which will
be used by the upcoming Bronco as well, the Ford Ranger Raptor is said to be
powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. The output
remains unknown for now, but it could churn out more than the 197 Hp offered by
the 3.2-liter diesel used in the regular models.
The 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost unit, found in
the larger F-150 Raptor, making 450 Hp and 691 Nm of torque, remains a
possibility in a slightly detuned state. The 10-speed automatic gearbox,
co-developed by Ford with General Motors, is expected to channel the output to
the four-wheel drive system.
