Hero MotoCorp has teased the Hero Xtreme NXT, the
production version of the Hero Xtreme 200S. The bike will be unveiled on the
30th of this month.
The image of the Hero Xtreme NXT leaked in December,
last year. The production version has stayed true to the concept version, which
was showcased at the India Auto Expo in 2016. The motorcycle features fuel tank
extension with sporty graphics, and LED DRL on the headlamp as well. The
ergonomics are likely to be comfortable enough for long rides.
The Hero Xtreme NXT gets an all-new 200 cc single
cylinder engine with air-cooling. It makes 18.6 PS of maximum power at 8,500
rpm and 17.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The bike uses telescopic forks at
the front and monoshock at the rear. The brakes will include discs at both
ends. ABS will be present, at least as an option.
The XTreme NXT will rival the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
in the segment. Other competitors in the 200cc segment include the KTM 200 Duke
and Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. It is likely that Hero will price the Xtreme NXT at
around INR 1 lakh to keep it affordable yet reasonably powerful enough. The
Indian manufacturer is also working on a bigger Impulse, and reportedly will
launch the bike in mid-2018. The brand showcased the concept bike, the XPulse
at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
