The new generation Volvo V60 will reportedly be
presented in March, at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, around 8 years after
production of the current model started. It will be followed by the S60 sedan
model.
Autocar says the Swedish premium compact estate will
probably be inspired by the larger V90, while using the same SPA platform as
the rest of the brand’s large cars. Testing is already underway, with the 2019
Volvo V60 to likely share its engines with the XC60. The powertrain family is
believed to include two 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesels, along with at least
one gasoline unit at launch.
These could be joined by a small hybrid, combining
the 1.5-liter three-pot with an electric motor and battery pack. Topping the
range will be the T8 PHEV with around 400 horsepower to take on rivals such as
the Audi S4 and Mercedes-AMG C43.
Buyers will be able to choose between three grades
called Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design Pro, with the equipment list
mirroring the one of the XC60. The new Volvo V60 will be followed in the coming
months by the S60 four-door saloon, and both of them could go on sale either
before the end of the year, or in early 2019.
