The facelifted
X-Trail and Qashqai were on display at the recent Singapore Motor Show.
Both models made their launch debuts in the republic last year in October and
September, respectively.
Starting with the X-Trail, the SUV now features a
bolder V-Motion grille and new bumper design. There’s also new lighting
clusters, which incorporate “boomerang” LED daytime running lights. The LED
headlights are standard on the sole 2.0L 4×4 variant offered there, and come
with Nissan’s Adaptive Front Lighting System.
At the rear, the bumper has been redesigned with new
chrome detailing, and the taillights are now fully LED units. Other exterior
features here include a powered panoramic sunroof and tailgate, roof rails and
19-inch wheels.
The cabin now comes with a new D-shaped steering
wheel that incorporates new four-way controllers as well. Leather upholstery,
dual-zone climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system are all standard
on this variant.
The X-Trail also benefits from the Nissan
Intelligent Mobility suite of systems, which include autonomous emergency
braking and around view monitor. Safety wise, there’s six airbags, hill start
assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control and Nissan’s Chassis Control – Intelligent
Trace Control, Intelligent Engine Brake and Intelligent Ride Control.
A MR20DD 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine
provides motivation here, serving up 144 PS at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque
at 4,400 rpm. An X-Tronic CVT automatic is paired with the mill, along with an
All-Mode 4×4-i system.
Next up is the updated Qashqai, which also comes
with a number of visual enhancements. It too comes with a new V-Motion grille,
flanked by standard LED headlights with new LED DRLs and Adaptive Front
Lighting System.
Elsewhere, crossover gains restyled bumpers at the
front and rear, new “boomerang” graphics for the LED taillights. On the inside,
the Qashqai also receives a new D-shaped steering wheel, just like the X-Trail.
The Qashqai is availble in three variants in
Singapore – 1.2L DIG-T Lite, 1.2L DIG-T Premium and 2.0L Premium. The first two
employs a HRA2 1.2 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol powerplant with 155
PS at 5,200 rpm and 165 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. Drive goes to the front via
an X-Tronic CVT.
As for the range-topping 2.0L Premium, it gets the
same MR20DD mill and CVT found in the X-Trail, although it is strictly a
front-wheel powertrain. The 1.2L variants comes with 17-inch alloy wheels,
while the 2.0L unit is fitted with 19-inch units.
Equipment wise, the 2.0L variant gets the most
goodies, including a motion-activated powered tailgate (also found on the
X-Trail), dual-zone climate control, powered seats, keyless entry and start,
electronic parking brake, Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies, blind spot
warning, lane departure warning, high beam assist and rear cross traffic alert.
The X-Trail has a starting price of SGD 136,800, while the Qashqai is priced at SGD 106,800 for the base
variant, SGD 109,800 for the mid-range variant and SGD 131,800 for the 2.0L – prices are without COE.
