Motor Image recently introduced the EyeSight safety
system in some of its models at this year’s Singapore Motor Show, and says it
will do the same for the Malaysian market. The XV has been earmarked to receive
the driver assistance system, but an official debut will only take place in the
second half of 2019.
The
EyeSight system will be included in a new variant for the XV, similar to what
is being done for the model in the Singapore market. Exact pricing hasn’t been
disclosed at this point, but the variant is likely to cost up to
RM 8,000 more than the top-spec 2.0i-S variant currently on sale in Malaysia.
Ahead of the enhanced XV, the new Outback
(with EyeSight) will make its Malaysian debut in the second quarter of 2018.
Its quicker introduction is primarily due to it being a fully-imported (CBU)
model, as with other Subaru models in markets like Singapore and Taiwan. The XV
sold in Malaysia is locally-assembled (CKD), and production of
EyeSight-equipped XVs is slated to begin in the second half of next year.
The EyeSight system is comprised
of six technologies – pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management,
adaptive cruise control, lane departure & sway warning, pre-collision
steering assist and lead vehicle start alert.
