Tata Motors announced yesterday that it will introduce the IMPACT Design 2.0 design language in a passenger vehicle at Auto Expo 2018. The report indicates that the Tata X451 in close-to-production form is the passenger vehicle the company is referring to.

IMPACT Design 2.0 will likely emerge as an evolution of the IMPACT design language using which the Tata Tiago, Tata Tigor, Tata Nexon and Tata Hexa were created. The Tata X451 will not only debut the new design language, but also the Advanced Modular Platform. The new versatile platform will form the basis for a slew of future cars from the brand.

The Tata X451 will likely measure just below four metres in length. It will use a more powerful version of the Tata Tiago’s 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine (80 PS/114 Nm). Those preferring a diesel engine will have the choice to go for the 1.05-litre Revotorq turbocharged diesel engine (70 PS/140 Nm), also from the Tata Tiago, but with Variable Geometry Turbo for higher power. The Tata Nexon’s 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine (110 PS/170 Nm) will join the list of options later. There are rumours of the sub-4 metre SUV’s 1.5-litre diesel engine as well, which would produce 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque.

The Tata X451 should go on sale sometime in 2019. The Maruti Baleno rival’s production will take place in Sanand, Gujarat.
