Launched in Singapore near the start of 2018, the Volkswagen Arteon was on display at Singapore Motor Show. Customers in the republic are able to choose from two 2.0 TSI variants – R-Line with 19-inch Montevideo wheels and R-Line with 20-inch Rosario wheels.


The 2.0 litre TSI engine fitted serves up 280 PS and 350 Nm of torque, with drive going to all four corners via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive system. A sprint from zero to 100 km/h is claimed to take just 5.6 seconds. Also fitted is Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), offering drivers a number of drive modes – Eco, Normal, Comfort, Sport and Individual along with an XDS electronic differential lock.

In terms of equipment, you get LED lighting units front and rear, Silver Rise aluminium inlays, leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, Nappa leather seats with “carbon-style” inner faces and R-Line embroidery, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, 14-way power-adjustable seats, 12.3-inch Active Info Display, heads-up display, 9.2-inch touchscreen, Discover Pro infotainment system and a 700-watt Dynaudio sound system with 12 speakers and 12-channel digital amplifier.


The Arteon is priced at SGD 227,400 for the variant with the smaller wheels, whereas the one fitted with 20-inch units goes for SGD 232,400. These prices are inclusive of COE but before a Vehicular Emissions Scheme (VES) penalty of SGD 20,000.
