Everybody seems to love classic Dodge Chargers, including Hollywood celebrities and famous musicians like Jay Kay, who’s decided to part ways with his personal, and really nicely done, example. Jay Kay actually bought his Charger in 2008 from Bruce Willis, who owned it for ten years and received it as a gift from his first wife Demi Moore. Enough with the celebrity stuff though, because the real star here is this sweet 1969 Charger.

It’s no ordinary Charger, but a ‘Bullitt’ spec model based on the car driven in the famous 1968 movie by Steve McQueen. The car was officially imported and registered in the UK in 2008 and is finished in a deep gloss black paint. The interior is all original and is described as being in perfect condition, as you can also see from the provided images.

This menacing Dodge Charger comes with a comprehensive history file showing that, in 2014, Jay Kay spent £ 25,000 (about US$ 34,500) to improve the car and make it as perfect as possible, including having the engine rebuilt and upgraded.

Under the hood lies a huge 8.2-liter V8 paired to a three-speed automatic gearbox, providing enough grunt to light up the rear tires with ease and the matching V8 rumble one expects from it.

Since the upgrade, it has covered only a handful of miles and is said to drive superbly for a car of its size. “Aside from the fact that it has been enjoyed by two massive global mega-stars – Bruce Willis and Jay Kay – it is also an unbelievable example in its own right,” said Nick Whale, managing director at Silverstone Auctions.

Set to go under the hammer at the Race Retro Classic Car Sale on February 24, this 1969 Dodge Charger is estimated at between £ 50,000 and £ 60,000 (US$ 69,000 to US$ 82,000), plus VAT and commission.
