The 2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R with single channel
ABS will be launched next month. The bike was unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo
in Greater Noida. Apart from the single channel ABS, the 2018 Honda CB Hornet
160R also features an all-new LED headlamp.
The Hornet is Honda’s second motorcycle to feature
ABS. Hazard lamps and blue-lit all-digital instrumentation is standard as well.
The bike comes in a new Dazzle Yellow Metallic colour, in addition to the
existing colour variants. The motorcycle will be available in 4 variants –
Standard, CBS, ABS and ABS Deluxe.
The mechanicals are unchanged, with traditional
front fork, and a rear monoshock. The 162.71 cc single cylinder HET mill is
good for 15.25 PS at 8,500 rpm and 14.76 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine works in
conjunction with a 5-speed gearbox. The addition of an LED headlamp will
conserve more power and result in better battery life.
Expect the ABS variant to be around INR 10,000 more
than the CBS variant. Currently, the CBS version costs INR 86,823, ex-Delhi.
The single-channel ABS will enhance the braking performance of the 276 mm front
and the 220 mm rear petal disc. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with
100-section front and 140-section rear rubber. The 2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R
rivals the 2018 Yamaha FZ-S FI, Suzuki Gixxer, and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160.
