Hyundai will use Chicago Auto Show to introduce the updated Sonata Hybrid. Set to debut
on November 8th, the facelifted model will follow in the footsteps of the
mainstream sedan which was unveiled at the New York Auto Show last year.
Hyundai is keeping details under wraps but the
regular Sonata was equipped with a sportier front fascia and a larger grille.
The car also had new taillights, restyled wheels, and a rear Hyundai badge that
doubled as a trunk release button.
The interior will likely have a new three-spoke
steering wheel and a revised instrument cluster. We can also expect an updated
infotainment system with an improved navigation function.
The Sonata Hybrid will
likely come standard with Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
There should also be a new Lane Departure Warning system and an improved Lane
Keep Assist function. On the handling front, drivers can look forward to a
retuned suspension with new bushings, thicker trailing arms, and a stiffer
torsion bar.
There’s no word on powertrain updates but the
current model has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a
270-volt lithium-ion battery. This enables the sedan to produce a combined
maximum output of 193 hp. In terms of efficiency, the car can return
up to 39 mpg city, 45 mpg highway, and 42 mpg combined.
Also, Hyundai will
announce a new motorsports program and provide an update on their Shopper
Assurance program which was introduced last year.
