Mazda has slightly updated the MX-5 RF for the 2018MY, which goes on sale across the United States this month. The changes include the addition of some standard equipment, such as the keyless entry on all models and heated cloth sport seats in the Club grades. The latter’s Brembo/BBS Package Package now adds heated leather-trimmed seats and new color options as well.

Pricing for the 2018 MX-5 RF starts from US$ 31,910 for the 6-speed manual gearbox version, which is US$ 355 more than the 2017MY, while the automatic carries a US$ 600 premium. The Grand Touring costs US$ 130 more than before and starts at US$ 32,750.

Both the Club and Grand Touring have standard LED headlights, a leather steering wheel and gear shifter knob, an infotainment system with 7-inch display, Bluetooth, and Bose premium sound system. They also get SiriusXM satellite radio with a 4-month trial subscription and Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

The manual transmission version of the MX-5 RF Club rides on 17-inch dark alloy wheels and benefits from piano black side mirror caps, front air dam and rear spoiler extensions, and rear seat stitching. Choosing the Brembo/BBS package adds different wheels, body sill extensions, rear bumper skirt and black leather seats with heating function.

The range-topping MX-5 RF Grand Touring carries standard Nappa leather, heated leather seats, automatic climate control, navigation system, adaptive automatic headlights with high-beam control, rain-sensing wipers and the Lane Departure Warning System.

All versions of the 2018 Mazda MX-5 RF are powered by the same 2.0-liter engine that makes 155 hp and 201 Nm of torque. It returns an EPA-estimated 26/33/29 US mpg (31/40/35 UK mpg/9/7/8 lt/100 km) in city/highway/combined for the manual transmission, and 26/35/29 US mpg (31/42/35 UK mpg/9/6.7/8 lt/100 km) for the automatic.
