Royal Enfield has launched the 2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan in the United Kingdom. The motorcycle had gone on sale at a price of GBP 4,199 OTR.

The 2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan is a no-nonsense adventure motorcycle with a rugged design. The analogue-digital instrument cluster features a compass for direction, apart from the usual trove of information. The seat is 800 mm high, and the fuel tank can hold 15-litres of petrol. The motorcycle tips the scale at 185 kg (kerb weight).

The Euro 4 compliant 411 cc SOHC engine sits inside a half-duplex split cradle frame. With fuel injection and oil cooling, it generates 24.5 PS of power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of torque at 4,000-4,500 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a 5-speed gearbox. The front end gets 41 mm telescopic fork with 200 mm travel. The rear monoshock with linkage offers 180 mm wheel travel.

The 21-inch front and the 17-inch rear spoke wheels are shod with 90 and 120-section Pirelli knobby tires respectively. The front 300 mm disc and the rear 240 mm disc come with dual-channel ABS. The bike is available in two colours- Snow (White) and Granite (Black). With the competitive price tag, the Himalayan is one of the most affordable beginner-friendly adventure tourers in the market. In the UK market, the Himalayan is GBP 1,000 cheaper than the Continental GT.
