A revealing prototype for the fourth-generation BMW
X5 SUV was spotted testing on public roads with most of its lines and styling
details properly visible.
In these spy shots from Carscoops partners we can
see even more details, such as the LED fog lights, or the belt line that climbs
towards the rear door handle and then continues its path towards the edge of
the taillights. It makes the all-new X5 appear more muscular than the outgoing
model.
We had a feeling the redesigned taillights might be
smaller than before, towards the inner and outer edges. And indeed, gone are
the L-shape units, replaced by a sharper, sort of horizontal fang, perhaps a
little reminiscent of the taillights on an Audi Q5.
By utilizing the CLAR (cluster architecture)
platform, like the all-new 5 and 7-Series models, the 2019 BMW X5 is said to be
longer, lighter and more rigid. Inside, we expect it to boast at least the same
level of active safety and connectivity as the 5-Series, while providing
passengers with more room for themselves as well as for their luggage.
A variety of petrol and diesel units should be
available across the range, while the flagship X5 M version is expected to pack
the same 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that breathes life into the
all-new M5. A total of 600 or more HP should be available for the X5 M. The
2019 BMW X5 will be unveiled sometime later this year.
