Hyundai recently unveiled the 2019 Veloster N at the
North American International Auto Show and now we’re getting an idea of how the
model will sound when it goes on sale in the United States later this year.
A big reason for the impressive symphony is the
car’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces up to 275 hp and 352 Nm of torque. It is paired to a short-throw
six-speed manual transmission with a downshift rev-matching function.
The modifications extend far beyond the engine bay
as the high-performance model is distinguished by a unique front fascia with
larger air intakes and an exclusive grille. Designers also installed sportier
side skirts, a larger rear spoiler and a unique rear bumper with an integrated
diffuser. Other highlights include 18-inch wheels and an active sports exhaust
system which allows for crackles in N mode.
Sticking with the styling theme, the cabin has
exclusive sport seats and a unique steering wheel. Other N-specific touches
include a revised instrument cluster, a new shifter and N-branded door sill
plates.
On the performance front, engineers installed a
sport-tuned suspension and a high-performance braking system. The model also
comes standard with Michelin Pilot SuperSport summer tires and can be equipped
with an optional limited-slip differential.
