The fourth generation Ford Focus is almost ready,
but the automaker won’t bring it to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, which starts at
the beginning of March. In fact, Ford will debut their new compact model in
April, AutoNews reports quoting a spokesperson with knowledge on the matter.
The 2019 Ford Focus is expected to debut as a five-door
hatchback, with the estate version possibly arriving later this year. The
saloon, high-riding Active, and ST hot hatch should follow them shortly. The
range will eventually be topped by a new RS, but no sooner than 2-3 years from
now.
The range will be divided to three distinct trim
levels, including the ST-Line and Vignale editions. A selection of EcoBoost
petrol engines, such as the 1.0-liter, 1.5-liter, and 2.0-liter units, joined
by two diesels, will be on offer. Ford might add an electrified option but that
remains to be seen.
Those not interested in the manual gearbox will get
to order a dual-clutch automatic as an optional extra. Speaking of ‘extras’, an
all-wheel drive system, derived from the Focus RS, could find its way into the
Focus Active.
