Japanese buyers in the market for a luxury
performance sedan have plenty of choices on offer from their own domestic
automakers. Yet those more enamored with the ones made in America may be
intrigued by this latest special edition Caddy.
It’s called the Cadillac ATS-V Vector Blue Special,
and it’s limited to just five examples for the entire country – Japan by the
way is one of the largest luxury automobile markets in the world.
The special edition is
characterized by its Vector Blue paint job. It also features a two-tone
jet-black and saffron-orange interior with carbon-fiber trim. The wheels are
done up in a dark finish, and the Brembo brake calipers that are usually
available as an option in red, are painted dark gold here.
Of course, this being the ATS-V, means that it packs
a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 464 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque, all
sent to the rear wheels. Though transmission options haven’t been detailed for
this particular edition, the model typically comes with a choice of either a
six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
This special Caddy is priced in Japan at 10,225,000
yen before tax, or 11,043,000 yen with. That works out to over US$ 103k at current
exchange rates, or the better part of twice the US$ 62k MSRP the ATS-V carries
back Stateside.
However, don’t be too disappointed if you live
outside of Japan and can’t get your hands on this specific special edition
model. While we can’t speak to the dark-finish alloys and gold-painted brake
calipers, the Vector Blue paint is available on the “standard” ATS-V wherever
it’s sold.
