Lynk & CO is out testing the 03 in cold weather conditions, giving us our best look yet at the upcoming saloon model. The thin camouflage wrap of the prototype does little to hide the big similarities between the final production model and the 03 Concept that was shown back in April 2017. In fact, it appears that the Lynk & CO 03’s design will remain almost unchanged once it hits the production line.

The new 03 will be based on the Compact Modular Architecture that was co-developed with Volvo and can also be found in the XC40 compact crossover. The platform will eventually spawn several models, including the future Volvo S40 and V40.

The design of the Lynk & CO 03 follows the same recipe with the 01 crossover which is already on sale in China. The front end is characterized by the DRLs sitting higher and separately from the main headlights that are mounted at each side of the front grille. The rear end is dominated by the same L-shaped LED taillights we’ve seen in the concept.

The interior is expected to focus on offering the latest in infotainment and connected features, including the company’s much advertised app-based sharing feature, a fully digital instrument display and a large infotainment display, among other.

The engine range will be shared with Volvo. This will include the turbocharged three-cylinder 1.5-liter, as well as a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine. Lynk & CO has said that they will add a plug-in hybrid version of the 1.5-liter engine later on. No diesel engines will be offered.

Lynk & CO’s plan is to launch two new models every year by 2020, which is when the Geely-owned brand says it will go global. The list of new models so far includes the 02 SUV, the 03 sedan and of course the 04 hatchback we showed you a few days ago.
