When the doors open at the Geneva Motor Show next
month, Peugeot will be among the dozens of automakers showcasing their new
metal. The French marque is anticipated to unveil a completely new 508,
ushering a new design language into production. But before it does, we appear
to have our first look at the forthcoming sedan – however limited that glimpse
may be.
Revealed by Peugeot Heritage on Facebook, this
black-and-white image shows what appears to be the Lion marque’s new flagship
sedan. At least, that’s what the license plate would lead us to believe.
The most distinguishing trait we can make out from
this high-contrast image is the left taillight, which appears to encompass
three sets of four LED strips at a vertically biased diagonal angle.
Hard as it may be to tell, it looks like the sedan
will indeed embody an angular design like what we saw on the Instinct concept
at last year’s Geneva show. However we’ll have to wait a little while longer to
get a clearer picture – both literally and figuratively – of what the
production model will look like.
For those unfamiliar, the 508 currently serves as
the flagship of Peugeot’s sedan lineup. The current version replaced both the
407 and 607 with a solitary model in between when it debuted in 2011.
