Opel, which has thoroughly embraced the “black is beautiful” approach
for a variety of its models. The German carmaker recently launched versions of
the Crossland X and Grandland X with contrasting black trim. And now it’s done
the same with the Astra.
The C-segment hatchback is now being offered with
its roof, mirrors, and 17-inch alloys – all painted black. The treatment is
offered as a € 300 option on the On, Dynamic, Innovation, and Ultimate trim
levels.
The Astra’s not the only model in the Opel lineup to
take the blacked-out approach. The brand, recently acquired from General Motors
by the PSA Group, is offering similar treatments on the smaller Corsa hatch and
the Mokka X crossover, in addition to the aforementioned Crossland X and
Grandland X, and the Adam hatchback that kicked off the trend in Rüsselsheim.
The Mokka X Colour Innovation edition features
18-inch ten-spoke alloys to match its black roof and wing mirrors for € 26,375.
And the Corsa Colour Edition is offered from € 15,045, with 16-inch
split-four-spoke alloys, roof, mirrors, and grille, all in black, along with
tinted windows, aluminum pedals, and chrome exhaust tips.
With the Insignia offering a similar package, that
leaves only the Ampera-e plug-in hybrid, the Cascada convertible, the Karl
supermini, and a smattering of vans as having yet to take the blacked-out
approach. But at this rate, we wouldn’t expect it to be long before those
follow suit as well.
