The SEAT news continues as the first picture of the
Cupra Ateca has surfaced online. Posted by MQB-Coding, the image shows the
crossover will follow in the footsteps of the standard model but adopt a
revised grille which features the new Cupra logo. The model has also been
equipped with a new front bumper that features “CUPRA” lettering in the lower
air intake.
The unique styling continues aft of the A-pillar as
the high-performance model has sportier side skirts and additional body-color
trim. Elsewhere, we can see black mirrors and black trim around the windows.
Out back, there isn’t much to report as the Cupra
Ateca only has minor changes. These appear to include a modestly revised bumper
and a sporty four-tailpipe exhaust system.
Performance specifications remain unconfirmed but
previous reports have suggested the model will use the same turbocharged
2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that resides in the Leon Cupra. It produces 300
PS and 380 Nm of torque.
Speaking of performance, we can expect an assortment
of other upgrades including a sport-tuned suspension and beefier brakes. The
car should also have a revised interior with plenty of Cupra badging.
SEAT will celebrate the debut of the Cupra sub-brand
on February 22nd and its possible the crossover will be shown alongside the new
Cupra Ibiza. Both models will then likely make an appearance at the Geneva
Motor Show.
