Tata will showcase the H5 (Tata Q501) SUV in its
pre-production form at the 2018 Auto Expo. Teaser images of the Tata H5 were
shared by the company last month and the SUV was recently spotted testing with
its production body. Based on these images, IAB’s automotive illustrator has
come up with a rendering of the SUV.
The SUV, expected to be showcased in its concept
form, will debut the latest iteration of Tata’s Impact design language. The
rendering incorporates the Y-shape fog lamp enclosure element revealed by the
teaser image. The nose section features slim headlight connected via the
“Humanity Line” flowing along the bottom edge of the grille. The vehicle rides
on alloy wheels similar in design to those worn by the test mule in recent spy shots.
Towards the rear, it has a sloping roofline as depicted by one of the teaser
images.
The Tata H5 aka Tata Harrier will use the Land Rover
Discovery Sport’s platform. According to a recent report, the SUV will feature
an all-independent suspension setup and steering gear in a similar
configuration to the Discovery Sport. There will be 5-seat and 7-seat version
of the H5 on sale.
Tata will borrow Fiat’s 2.0 L Multijet II diesel
engine for the H5 aka Harrier. The Tata Harrier, reportedly, will employ ZF’s
9-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox will be locally made and is the
same one being used in the Discovery Sport currently.
