Tata Motors has unveiled the Tata Tiago JTP at Auto
Expo 2018. The Tata Tiago JTP is a sporty variant of the Tata Tiago. The Tata
Tiago JTP is one of the first products of JT Special Vehicles, a JV formed by
Tata Motors and Jayem Automotive. It features sportier design elements all
around. At the front, the car has smoked projector headlamps, gloss black
honeycomb front grille with red-coloured JTP logo and gloss black frame,
modified front bumper and revised lower air intake in a gloss black honeycomb
structure with gloss black frame. There’s a vertical hood vent as well on the
JTP variant.
Outside, the Tata Tiago JTP gets a red JTP
badge on a gloss black fender vents in a honeycomb structure on the front
fender, red mirror caps, underbody skirts and 15-inch diamond-cut
six-double-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with specially developed 185/60 R15
tyres. At the rear, changes include a faux diffuser, a fog lamp, red JTP badge
on the tailgate, completely black roof spoiler and chrome dual tailpipes for a
performance-oriented exhaust system. Up top, the JTP variant has a black roof
and a smaller antenna complementing the sporty theme.
The Tata Tiago JTP has an all-black interior with
red accents on the air vents. Other highlights include a leather-wrapped
steering wheel with contrast red stitching, leather seat upholstery and
aluminium pedals.
The Tata Tiago JTP is 3,746 mm long, 1,647 mm wide
and 1,502 mm tall. It has a 2,400 mm wheelbase and a 161 mm ground clearance.
The JTP variant sits 33 mm lower and offers up to 9 mm lesser ground clearance
than the standard variant. Along with a differently tuned suspension setup, it
benefits from a more powerful engine as well. It employs the 1.2-litre Revotron
turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 110 PS at 5,000 rpm and
150 Nm of torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission with tweaked
gear ratios sends power to the wheels.
Tata Motors has not announced when it plans to
launch the Tata Tiago JTP.
