A new entry in the high-end bagger cruiser market is the 2018 Indian Chieftain Elite, which comes in a limited edition paint scheme of high-flake Black Hills Silver. The new colours are inspired by the silver mines in the Black Hills of South Dakota, US, near the town of Spearfish where Indian Motorcycle’s custom paint facility is located.

The graphics are masked and laid by a team who then hand-spray each Chieftain Elite. Taking 25 hours to complete, no two Chieftain Elite paint schemes are identical, due to the vagaries of the processes involved.

At the heart of the Chieftain Elite is the 1,811 cc Thunderstroke 111 V-twin that delivers 161 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm through a six-speed gearbox. Weighing in at 392 kg wet, the Chieftain Elite rolls on a 19-inch front wheel and 16-incher at the back, with seat height a very low 660 mm.
Also included in the Chieftain Elite’s equipment list is a 200-watt premium audio system, LED headlight and driving lights, push-button power windshield, billet aluminium rider and passenger floorboards and genuine leather seats. ABS, cruise control, typre pressure monitoring and keyless start are also standard.

A full range of colour-matched accessories from Indian Motorcycle is available, featuring items such as a quick-release trunk, hard lower fairings and a valanced front fender. Quantities of the 2018 Indian Chieftain Elite are limited by country, and price is upon application at Harmony Fabulous, official Indian Motorcycle distributor for Malaysia.
