An updated Mazda2 will go on sale in the UK on April
3rd starting from £ 13,295, with a special edition Sport Black, limited to just
500 examples, priced at £ 15,995. Powering the Sport Black is the 90 PS version
of Mazda’s 1.5-liter SKYACTIV-G petrol unit.
Exterior details include Brilliant
Black detailing on the mirror caps, rear roof spoiler, skirt trims, grille and
shark fin antenna, 16-inch black alloys and a choice of Deep Crimson Mica,
Dynamic Blue Mica or Machine Grey Metallic paint.
Meanwhile, the regular 2018 Mazda2 is price between
£ 13,295 and £ 17,095, boasting five revised trim levels in the SE+, SE-L+, SE-L
Nav+, Sport Nav+ and GT Sport Nav+. Providing power is the previously mentioned
1.5-liter SKYACTIV-G petrol engine, offered in 75, 90 and 115 PS outputs.
Using the 75PS engine, the base-spec SE+ comes with
15-inch alloys, heated power fold mirrors, 60:40 split rear seats and electric
rear windows. The SE-L+ and SE-L Nav+ can be had with either 75 or 90 PS, and
gain dusk-sensing lights, rear parking sensors, rain sensing front wipers and
climate control.
Go for a 90 PS Sport Nav model and you’ll get a
Brilliant Black rear roof spoiler, while the range-topping GT Sport Nav+ adds a
reversing camera. Also, if you opt for the 115 PS engine, you can match it to a
6-speed manual gearbox instead of the 5-speeder of the rest of the range. A
six-speed automatic is also available, but only for the 90 PS versions of the
SE-L+, SE-L Nav+ and Sport Nav.
The 2018 Mazda2 range also features four new paint
colors, namely Ceramic Metallic, Sonic Silver Metallic, Machine Grey Metallic
and Soul Red Crystal – the latter, when compared to the previous Mazda2’s Soul
Red Metallic paint, is brighter by approximately 20%, and shows 50% more depth.
