It looks like dealers can’t wait to begin collecting
orders for the all-new 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class. There’s plenty of details being presented in the
post, but barring any official word from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, we’ll have to
take it all with a pinch of salt.
The variant being presented here is the A 200, which
is powered by a M282 1.4 litre turbocharged
four-cylinder engine with 161 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Co-developed
with Renault, the mill replaces the older 1.6 litre unit, and is paired with a
seven-speed dual-clutch transmission 7G-DCT.
In terms of equipment, the car is said to be fitted
with the Progressive Line exterior package. This is identified by a
single-louvre grille at the front, which differs from the AMG Line set seen in
the photos. The AMG Line kit includes a diamond grille with chrome pins, along
with a sportier-looking front bumper with slats on the side intakes.
Also included are LED Multibeam headlamps, 18-inch
wheels, 360-degree camera and Keyless Go. As for the interior, the listing
states a 64-colour ambient lighting will be featured, along with powered front
seats (with memory function and lumbar support), steering wheel with Touchpad,
Burmester sound system, Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment
system and even twin 10.25-inch widescreen displays.
That’s quite a lot of kit, and there’s more in the
safety and driver assistance department too. Among the listed items are Blind
Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Parktronic, Distronic, Pre-Safe
System, Brake Assist System (BAS) and CPA (Collision Prevention Assist). The
Mercedes-me Connect service is also being offered, which allows for remote
interface with the car.
The listing
states the A 200 Progressive Line variant is going for RM 220,888, which makes
it RM12,000 more than the current A 200 AMG Line on sale now.
