TVS Motor Company has launched the 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V in the country. The motorcycle comes in three variants: Carburettor with front disc and rear drum (INR 81,490); carburettor with front and rear disc (INR 84,990); and Fuel Injected (FI) variant with both front and rear disc (INR 89,990). The 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is born of the six-time Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) winning motorcycle – (Group B RTR 165). The motorcycle features a mass-forward design with chiselled fuel tank bearing the minimalistic chequered flag decals apart from the logo. The instrumentation is fully digital, and the seat is a single piece unit for optimal comfort.

The Hosur-based manufacturer claims the Apache RTR 160 4V is the most powerful 160 cc motorcycle equipped with New Generation Racing Oil Cooled Combustion Chamber Engine. The 159.7 cc, 4 valve mill with oil cooling and fuel injection makes 16.8 PS of power at 8,000 rpm. The variant with the carburettor generates 0.3 PS less than the FI variant, at the same rpm. The peak torque for both the variants stands at 14.8 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Pairing with a 5-speed gearbox, the bike can reach a top speed of 114 km/h (EFI), and 113 km/h (Carb). The company claims it also has the best-in-class power to weight ratio.

The engine sits inside a patented Double-cradle Split Synchro Stiff Frame Design, which offers high-speed stability and best-in-class handling on/off- track. The bike rides on telescopic front fork and a precision-tuned monoshock at the rear. The 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V series is available in three colours, namely, Racing Red, Metallic Blue and Knight Black. The primary rival of the motorcycle is the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160.
