Those who like the design of the new Kia Ceed hatch
but want more space will be pleased to know that a Sportswagon variant is just
around the corner. Snapped during winter testing in Sweden, the car promises to
provide Kia customers with even more choice.
While Kia has gone to the trouble of bathing this
prototype in camouflage, there shouldn’t be any styling surprises when the
covers are lifted. In fact, the front fascia of the sportswagon should be
identical to the hatchback and for the most part, the rear should follow suit.
The elongated
sportswagon will come laden with active safety technologies, including High
Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Forward
Collision Warning with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. Other available
features will include Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot
Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning, and Smart Parking
Assist.
The exact same powertrains of the hatchback are
expected to be available. Consequently, a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine
delivering 120 PS is on the cards, as is a 140 PS 1.4-liter mill. Those that
favor diesel will have a 1.6-liter CRDi delivering either 115 PS or 136 PS at
their disposal. The new Kia Ceed hatchback will launch at next month’s Geneva
Motor Show. The sportswagon will most likely premiere a few months late.
