A world-class sports car by all accounts, the Alpine
A110 presents a compelling alternative to its rivals from Porsche and Lotus.
Now the manufacturer is preparing to roll out additional trim levels that
promise to widen its appeal even further. With the Premiere Edition sold out in
most markets where it will be offered, Renault’s reborn sports-car brand will
now offer two additional versions.
The A110 Pure takes a minimalist approach – stripped out and as light as possible, like the
launch version. That’ll appeal more to weekend warriors driving the car more
sporadically on winding country roads and on the track.
Those looking for more comfortable accoutrements may
be more interested in the Légende edition, geared more
towards everyday driving and long-distance touring. It gets six-way adjustable
seats from Sabelt, leather upholstery, and glossy carbon-fiber trim. Along with
the new trim levels, Alpine is also introducing new shades of white, gray, and
blue to the lineup.
Regardless of the trim and color options, the A110
packs a 1.8-liter turbo four in the middle of its aluminum chassis, channeling
its 249 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque through a seven-speed dual-clutch
transmission. 0-62 is quoted at 4.5 seconds and top speed limited to 155 miles
per hour. That’s a fraction quicker than the Porsche 718 Cayman S, but with
less power than the base version.
The new additions to the A110 lineup will debut at
the Geneva Motor Show, at which point we’ll likely have more details and photos
to share. The Alpine is offered in an array of countries across Europe, and
will reach the UK, Australia, and Japan before the end of this year. Now if
it’ll only bring it to North America.
