Aprilia showcased the Storm at the 2018 Auto Expo
this month. As per a report from Autocar India, the Aprilia Storm will be
launched in the country by the end of this year.
The brand aims to target the youth, integrating fun
riding into their daily lives. The bodywork features funky colours, and the
12-inch wheels are shod with wide terrain tyres, measuring 120-section at the
front and 130-section at the rear. Expect the Italian brand to offer a range of
accessories for customisation.
The scooter will command a premium over the standard
SR 125. It could be possible that the pricing would be dangerously close or
more expensive than the SR 150. This is considering the SR 125 is only
approximately INR 4,000 cheaper, at INR 65,310, ex-showroom, Pune.
Powering the Aprilia Storm is a 124.49 cc single
cylinder mill. It is good for 9.65 PS at 7,250 rpm, and 9.9 Nm of torque at
6,250 rpm, both at crankshaft. The Aprilia Storm rides on 30 mm telescopic
front fork and single rear shock absorber. The fuel tank capacity stands at 6.5
litres. When launched, the scooter would rival TVS Ntorq 125 and Honda Grazia
in the youth-centric 125 cc segment. In a related development, the SR 150 will
reportedly be updated in mid-2018.
