Fisker is best known for creating the hybrid Karma
but before the brand wanted to electrify the industry, it was called Fisker
Coachbuild and created some rather wild creations. Take this one, for example.
Based on the Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG, the Fisker Tramonto was designed by Henrik
Fisker and production was planned to be capped at 150 examples. As is so often
the case with vehicles like this, that number was never reached and Fisker only
ended up making 15 examples.
Of these 15, all but one used a 610 hp V8 from AMG.
The last one, number 15 of 15, was fitted with a twin-turbo V12 delivering 700
hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. This one-of-a-kind creation is now for sale from
Topline in California.
The listing says the car has 25,897 on its odo, has
been “well maintained” and “runs and drives great.” According to official
figures, it will sprint to 96 km/h in 3.4 seconds and top out at over 330 km/h. Although most of the bodywork is unique, the vehicle’s
overall shape is largely identical to the SL.
Considering the vehicle’s rarity and it’s US$ 149,888
asking price, it seems like a reasonable deal. However, those looking to make
an easy buck by buying it now, mothballing it and selling it a few years later
with a significant mark up probably won’t be looking at the Fisker too closely,
as it might be one of one, but at the end of the day it’s a rebodied and tuned
Merc. A very capable Merc, sure, but definitely not an exotic.
