Paultan's spies have spotted a new Hyundai SUV currently
in development, which will slot in above the Santa Fe. The new model you see here will likely offer seating for up to eight
people, one more than the Santa Fe that comes in five- and seven-seat
configurations.
The unnamed Hyundai SUV will be
a pretty sizeable thing, and is designed with inspiration from recent models
like the Santa Fe and Kona. Despite the camouflage, slender-looking headlights
can be seen flanking what is likely a trapezoidal-shaped grille with
wavy-patterned mesh.
The covers and fake body panels present on the mule
make it hard to tell how the rear will look, but it should look relatively
blocky in order to cater for rearmost passenger and cargo space. Under the
bonnet, the large SUV will likely feature a turbocharged petrol engine in order
to shift all that heft.
Hyundai has already confirmed that a new full-size
SUV larger than the SUV will be introduced in the United States market. When it
arrives, it will compete against the Subaru Ascent that has a wheelbase of
2,890 mm, and can be had with either seven or eight seats.
