It’s hard to believe that the current
third-generation Hyundai Tucson is now three years old, but the fact of the
matter is that the Korean mid-size SUV will soon need a facelift to keep up
with the competition. As it turns out, a nip and tuck is on the way, according
to these spyshots.
These mules sport a fair few changes, including LED
daytime running lights that have now moved up into the redesigned headlights
rather than being low down on the bumper. There’s also what appears to be
Hyundai’s latest Cascading Grille that tapers towards the bottom, as well as
redesigned air intakes.
The rear is heavily disguised, but expect new tail
lights and a reprofiled bumper to be hiding underneath. The interior should
also receive the usual trim and upholstery updates that usually come with a
facelift.
Engines from the current model will likely soldier
on, including 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated petrol engines, a 1.6
litre turbo petrol mill as well as 1.7 litre and 2.2 litre turbodiesels.
Currently, a six-speed automatic gearbox is offered alongside a six-speed
manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, but the facelift could see a
new eight-speed auto take its place.
