The all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe won’t be
limited to the three current flavors, as a high performance hybrid version of
the car is expected in a couple of years. According to AutomobileMag, the faster plug-in hybrid AMG GT 4 should
arrive in 2020, if everything goes as planned.
The current Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe uses a
special 4Matic all-wheel drive system, but other possible derivatives might be
rear-wheel drive, just like its two-door siblings, the AMG GT.
As far as its direct underpinnings go, the 2+2 Grand
Tourer builds upon the latest AMG E63 Estate, whose chassis was reinforced to
cope with the extra power. “Its structure is based on the E63 wagon. The
wagon’s chassis has been stiffened even further for the GT four-door”, added
Moers.
Serving as a more upscale replacement for the old
CLS 63, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is getting ready to arrive at
dealers. Customers living in Europe will be able to place their orders late
this summer, and to decide whether the ‘regular’ model, or the ‘S’ designation,
is the better choice.
The first makes 585 PS and 800 Nm of torque, and the second option has 639 PS and 900 Nm of
torque. Naught to 100 km/h takes 3.4sec in the former and 3.2sec in
the latter, and in its most powerful form, it can reach a top speed of 315 km/h.
