Carlex Design is targeting 1,998 owners of the
Mercedes-Benz X-Class, with two different tuning upgrades. Offered in 999 units
each, the first package turns the Nissan Navara-based
pickup into a more capable off-roader, hence its new name: Exy Off-Road.
Priced from € 13,995 (US$ 17,277) in Europe, it
adds a special wrap on the outside, together with a new body kit, plastic
cladding, bulging fenders, winch, roof-mounted lights, chunky all-terrain tires
and jacked-up suspension.
Black is the dominating color inside, where this
tuned X-Class gets leather upholstery, glossy accents and carbon fiber trim, in
addition to the ‘Exy’ lettering embroided into the seats and the ‘Carlex
Design’ logo on the dashboard.
The second tuning job is called ‘Urban’ and it will
set you back for € 16,995 (US$ 20,980). This one adds a specific exterior finish,
along with a different body kit with carbon fiber inserts, wheels and lowered
suspension.
Inside is where the action takes place, as the cabin
has become more upscale with the addition of leather on just about every
visible surface. The red-finished leather is contrasted by white stitching, and
this version of the X-Class also gets carbon fiber trim, glossy accents and the
‘Carlex Design’ logo.
So, given that customers need to provide the tuner
with an X-Class before they can turn it into either the Off-Road or Urban
editions, with the base model starting from € 37,295 (US$ 46,040) in Germany, would
you actually do it?
