Bike designer Max Shojaie has taken to the Indiegogo
crowdfunding website this month to launch a campaign to raise the funds needed
to take the Nireeka smart electric bike into production. With still 18 days
remaining on its campaign the Nireeka electric bike has raised over US$ 260,000
thanks to nearly 400 backers blasting past the required US$ 35,000 pledge goal.
The Nireeka features a custom-built frame
incorporating a hidden battery compartment as well as an antitheft system which
incorporates GPS tracking. Other features include a blindspot radar, GPS
navigation auto illuminating lights with three different writing styles and a
lightweight carbon fibre frame. The frame itself weighs 1.5 kg or 3.3 lbs, and
the entire bike weighs less than 15.5 kg or 35 lbs, complete with battery in
place.
Pledges for the Nireeka electric bike start from US$ 799 offering a considerable 50 percent saving off the recommended retail price
of US$ 1,600. If all goes well shipping is expected to take place during June
2018. On a full charge the electric bike is capable of covering a 50 mile or 80
Kilometre range with speeds up to 20 mph or 32 km an hour.
