Land Rover is looking to define a new genre of SUV
with the introduction of the Range Rover SV Coupe, the only full-size luxury
two-door SUV in the world. Tasked with its creation were Land Rover Design,
together with the SVO team. After putting down
their crayons, the finished product featured a stylish and exclusive exterior
as well as a luxurious cabin, offering extensive personalization options.
In order to give this SUV a powerful road presence,
Land Rover relied on signature features such as the floating roof, continuous
waist design and tapering tail, but also on the frameless glass doors,
panoramic roof and unique side vent and grille designs. This is also the first
Range Rover model to come with a 23-inch wheel option.
Inside, the SV Coupe boasts semi-aniline leather
seats with a diamond quilt design that’s unique to this model. Each unit will
be hand-built to the customer’s personal specification, as buyers will be able
to choose from four front-to-rear contrasting interior paintjobs as well as a
range of single-tone interior colors.
There are over 100 paint colors to
choose from, plus unique hues, contrast stitching, headrest embroidery, door
handle and tread plate engraving, as well as semi-precious metal badging.
Powered by a 565 PS 5.0-liter supercharged V8, the
SV Coupe is the fastest-ever full-size Range Rover, with a top speed of 265 km/h, while its 0 to 96 km/h acceleration time is 5 seconds
flat. Compared to the standard Range Rover, the SV Coupe sits closer to the
road by 8 mm (0.31 inches), yet boasts a 900 mm maximum wading
depth and a maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.
Sales for the Range Rover SV Coupe are expected to
start in Q4 of 2018, with a starting price tag of £ 240,000 (US$ 333,000) in the
UK.
