Shortly after its world debut at the 2018 Geneva
Motor Show, the all-new Rimac C_Two was imagined as an open-top. The renderings
are the work of Aksyonov Nikita and they pretty much speak for themselves: it’s
a C_Two with a targa-style removable top.
In the past, chopping off the roof of the C_Two
would require some chassis stiffening, which in turn leads to an increased
weight that would affect its performance and range. This, however, is supposed
to be a targa, and with modern hypercars already having a very stiff chassis,
reinforcements are no longer necessary in many of them.
Renderings aside, Rimac is getting ready to commence
production of the C_Two. Assembly will take place at the same facility that was
in charge of putting together the Concept One, and it will be a limited run of
just 150 units.
The official specs talk about a massive 1,888 hp and 2,300 Nm of torque developed by its electric
powertrain. Naught to 0-96 km/h is an incredible 1.85 seconds, which is
a match for superbikes – or the upcoming Tesla Roadster, and top speed is 412 km/h.
Rimac’s all-new C_Two uses a large 120kWh battery
pack that provides the necessary juice for a total driving range of up to 650 km on the NEDC cycle, so in the real world, users should expect
probably around 300+ miles (~500 km), depending on how often they exploit the
electric hypercar’s amazing performance.
