Audi’s all-new 2019 A6 will most likely feature the
most tech-ridden interior out of all currently available mid-size premium
family cars. Carscoops spy photographers managed to peak inside a RHD Audi A6 Avant
prototype, and as expected, it’s pretty much identical to what we already saw
with all-new A7 Sportback. The two touchscreen displays definitely stand out
the most, followed by the same steering wheel and seemingly same door panel
design as in the A7.
In all likelihood, if not all, most of the A7’s
options will make it over to the new A6 – like the head-up display, Bang &
Olufsen audio system, voice control tech, ambient lighting package, Valcona
leather upholstery and Audi AI driver assistance tech. Let’s put it this way,
there weren’t many options you could tick on the first-gen A7 that you couldn’t
on the current, 4th-gen A6 (C7).
Since we’re on the subject of specs, we expect the
all-new A6 to boast Level 3 autonomous technology, which means that it should
be able to maneuver into and out of parking spots and garages, just like the
new A7 can. Helping it along the way could be as many as five radar sensors,
five cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner.
On the road, new A6 owners will get to choose
between multiple four and six-cylinder engines, among them the 3.0-liter TFSI
V6 unit that feeds 340 PS and 500 Nm of torque to the new
A7 Sportback’s wheels.
Whether you opt for petrol, diesel or electrified,
the all-new A6 should pander to all audiences, especially with such a diverse
lineup of body styles and versions – Sedan, Estate (Avant), Allroad / S6, RS6.
Audi is also planning on unveiling the premium sedan
first, as per their latest teaser. So it’s possible that we’ll get to analyze
it in detail during this year’s Geneva Motor Show next month.
